Registration for a period of five years is granted
separately for U.G. and H.S. courses. The students after passing their
H.S. can continue their study in U.G. courses in the college itself
taking admission in TDC. They are allowed to opt for major courses
provided by the college. After their graduation they may join in M.
Com. under post graduate centre of the college. In H.S. the students
are allowed to opt for any one language among the four language
subjects and may select either Economics or Commercial Arithmetic as
elective subject. In the U.G. level also they have elective option
with regard to language subject.
In order to respond properly to the market demand
for the skilled commerce graduates, the college has introduced
Computer Education Centre which provides trade and commerce befitting
computer courses. The existing major courses viz. Accountancy, Banking
and Monetary Management & Human Resource Management are getting
popular day by day in this era of globalization trade, commerce and
In order to encourage the local students for
commerce education, the institution does not put much restriction in
allowing them in different courses of study. It only takes a formal
interview and allows the admission seekers on the basis of their
academic records. For the students who opt for major courses,
selection tests are held. The teachers often take extra need based
classes during holidays. The college generally gets academically poor
students. The teachers take tutorials and keep the marks of the
tutorials in separate copies.
The college has been keeping contact with Assam
Productivity Council, Assam Sociological Association and with local
Vivekananda Kendra to motivate the students and teachers for their
personal development in particular and for the institutional
development in general.
The infrastructure is being maintained by the
internal sources only. The existing buildings consist only about one tenth of the
total proposed construction areas of the master plan of the college.
The constructed areas accommodates only - Principal's Office, Vice
Principal Office, Teachers Common Room with Lavatory, Library,
Computer Section, Confidential Room, Six Class Rooms, One Class Room
cum Function Hall, one Students Union Room, Three Urinals, two
Latrines and one generator room for the students only. The College has
yet to construct the proposed building included in the master plan.
The college facilitates the students with - a
Football cum Cricket ground, pure drinking water, canteen, generator
facility, cycle stand, library with reading and internet facility,
computer education, spoken english course, health building
instruments, sports goods, educative programmes and with a pollution
The college gets scholarship for SC/ST/OBC/MOBC/Ex-Tea
Garden Labourers annually. The college provides financial aids to the
poor students in the form of free scholarship.
Anita (Sumi) Memorial Trust was formed to extend
scholarship facility specially for the girls students.
In order to keep pace with the time and age, the
students are extended computer education through its own centre and
P.G. Education through its Distance Education Contact Centre and
Spoken English through Centre for Spoken English. These centre are
self financing centres. The students are motivated to attend lecture
programmes held in the colleges and outside.
